TUESDAY’S RELEASES WORTH NOTING
Wilco – Wilco (The Album)
You would think that Jeff Tweedy and his bandmates have been feeling an intense amount of pressure, in creating the follow-up to the very successful Sky Blue Sky, however, this may not exactly be the case. While they’ve certainly been under the microscope, the pressure may not be all that intense. Especially for a band who has seen both the highs and lows of the reality of being in a band, the most recent being the death of former member, Jay Bennett. They first sampled some of these new tunes while on tour in 2008, such as “You Never Know”, ”One Wing” and “Wilco (the song)”, which made its debut on The Colbert Report. For those who have been fans of the band throughout the various stages in their career, you will come to place this album right next to the others, as it features a combination of the Wilco both old and new. With the beauty of Sky Blue Sky and the experimentation of A Ghost Is Born, Tweedy and his bandmates have continued on the path of strong melodies and gorgeous, pop arrangements.
Bjork – Voltaic
The Black Crowes – Warpaint Live on DVD
Depeche Mode – Peace
The Woodstock Experience (Limited Edition Box Set) – Ten discs featuring the complete festival performances of Santana, Janis Joplin, Sly & the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane and Johnny Winter. The box set also includes each band’s 1969 studio album, along with six posters (including the Original Woodstock Poster), twenty-five previously unreleased tracks and rare photos.
Spoon – Spoon
