Counting Down the Year’s Five Best Supergroups: Number Five

Although this super group of musicians dates back to 2005, they’re making my list because 2009 saw the release of their debut, self-titled album (Fiction Family) and first tour. It’s a collaboration that includes Switchfoot frontman, Jon Foreman, and the Nickel Creek brother and sister team of Sean and Sara Watkins. Unlike Switchfoot and Nickel Creek, this band isn’t wearing any hard-rock or bluegrass badges on their sleeves, as they’ve taken the road to creating simple, indie pop-rock songs. Work has already begun on a second album, which is slated to be released as early as late this year. Enjoy the first track off of their debut album.
