The Return of mallory

The long-awaited second album from mallory has arrived, and to celebrate the release, they threw a huge party last night at the Southgate House. Seven bands (including mallory) rocked out in both the ballroom and upstairs parlour. The night featured powerful sets from nearly everyone, such as locals like The Sundresses, State Song, The Sleeping Sea, Lifelike and Animal Circles, and Bloomington, Indiana’s e.p. hall.

But nothing could top the band of the evening, as mallory was backed by fog machines and psychedelic red and blue lights during their large, atmospheric soundscapes of mostly instrumental jam sessions. How this band managed not to get a vote at this year’s CEA’s for “Best Live Act” I have no idea, but here’s to next year guys. The entire night was simply remarkable and truly epic; one of the best local shows I’ve seen all year long.
