Prepare yourself for the next big thing in indie-folk music: a quartet out of London, England called Mumford & Sons. They haven’t been around for too terribly long, having formed in December of 2007, but even in such a short period of time they have managed to find their place amongst the best bands in a genre that has become almost too crowded, what with bands like Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes and the Avett Brothers to name just a few. Although Mumford & Sons released their debut album, Sigh No More, last year, which wound up earning them a number of awards and on various year-end lists, it wasn’t until a month ago that the album was released here in the states. I’ve only listened to this album a few times over the past couple of weeks, but I can already see that this will be one of my favorite albums of the entire year, and probably one of the best sets from a lower-tier band at this year’s Bonnaroo Music Festival. I imagine that the sound on this album is what you might get if the Avett Brothers, Fleet Foxes and Elvis Perkins’ horn section were jamming out together at Levon Helm’s barn.
