In past years, music festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits have typically announced their lineup just by posting a list of bands on a release date. This year we’ve seen festivals taking on a more fun and interactive way that gives it a somewhat personable touch. First there was Bonnaroo, who on February 9, used social networks like Twitter and Facebook to announce who’d be playing this summer. Although the process took nearly fourteen hours, it was quite an exciting way to involve both the artist’s and the fans.
Then there’s the organizers of Lollapalooza, who have shown an inspiration from the game show Jeopardy. There’s a poster circulating the interweb, although the only letters showing are “o” and “r.” Keep in mind that not every band will have an “o” or an “r” in their name, but the peeps over at Consequence of Sound have put together quite an impressive guess list. Among their guesses are the recently reunited Soundgarden, Green Day, Lady GaGa, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Phoenix, Social Distortion, MGMT, Jimmy Cliff, Hot Chip, The Black Keys, The National, Spoon, Devo and Cypress Hill.
