Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Ben Sollee/Daniel Martin Moore Cohort Heads Out on Solo Tour

You just might be familiar with Louisville songstress Cheyenne Marie Mize, if you’ve heard bands like Arnett Hollow or Maiden Radio, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s album Among the Gold, or even if you caught Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore’s Dear Companion Tour earlier this year. But this time Mize is stepping out front and center, when she comes to Newport’s Historical Southgate House on Saturday, July 10.

Although anything but a stranger to the limelight, Cheyenne is touring the material from her debut solo album, Before Lately, which isn’t due out until the Fall. Following the traditional alternative country form, these new songs have been described as everything from “whimsical, haunting, twangy folk” to “rugged, gentle, innocent, spacious, intimate, desolate and uplifting.”

Once again, Cheyenne Marie Mize comes to the Southgate House Parlour on Saturday, July 10, with headlining indie-folk act, Vandaveer (frontman Mark Charles Heidinger has been called “this generation’s Nick Drake”), Chicago singer-songwriter Nathan Xander (think Townes Van Zandt) and Alabama’s Cassino (featuring Nick Torres and Tyler Odom of Northstar). Tickets are just $8 in advance and $10 the day of show, while doors open at 8 pm with the show at 9 pm.

Other regional dates include Friday, July 2 at Zanzabar in Louisville; Saturday, July 3 at Al’s Bar in Lexington; Friday, July 9 at Cosmic Charlie’s in Lexington and Saturday, July 31 at the White Rabbit Cabaret in Indianapolis.
