MidPoint Indie Summer Preview

MidPoint’s Indie Summer kicks off in just about an hour, and tonight’s lineup will feature a handful of the best indie bands in the area. Things kick off at 7 pm, with Come On Caboose, who formed in 2007 as a solo project for singer/songwriter Coran Stetter. They have since opened for the likes of Margot & the Nuclear So & So’s, Wax Fang and Royal Bangs. At 8 pm, No No Knots take the stage with a temporary/revamped lineup, including the return of Dave McClellan (he just came off tour with Cheap Trick as a back-up singer), and the additions of Ben Sloan on drums and saxophonist Evan Roberts, who is replacing the bands violinist. In a recent interview for Cincinnati Metromix, the band said that by adding in the sax, they’re hoping to add an experimental Mars Volta flavor to their sound. Enlou (who have been called the next local band likely to make a splash nationally) take the stage at 9 pm. They released their Lujo Records debut EP, Threshing Floor, last year. They’ve been compared to bands like Animal Collective and of Montreal. And finally, you have Pomegranates as the 10 pm headliner. I’ve always thought they had a nice little mix of both Modest Mouse and The Shins. They’ve shared the stage with bands like Jimmy Eat World and Peter, Bjorn & John, and are getting ready to do some shows with Cloud Cult, Blitzen Trapper and Colour Revolt.
