Lite Brite at MidPoint

Posted in Lite Brite Test, MidPoint Music Festival
There’s several new features to the MidPoint Music Festival this year, and one of those happens to be another festival inside a festival. What I’m talking about is the addition of the Lite Brite Test. This indie film and music festival was created in 2004 by MidPoint executive, Dan McCabe, an active member and supporter of the local music and arts scene for over twenty years.
In previous years, Lite Brite was typically held on the last weekend of July at the Southgate House, and featured a number of independent and nationally-recognized film makers and musicians. Some of the past highlights from the festival included filmmakers John Waters (Hairspray, Serial Mom, Pecker, Seed of Chucky), John Parker and Hal Hartley, films from Lightborne, Animation Nation and Dog Day Productions, the Best Short films from the Oxford International Film Festival and films like the Life and Times of H-Bomb Ferguson, Brother of the Head, the Afghan Whigs, RESfest and the Rise and Fall of Brit Pop. Performances from musicians have included Film School, Extra Golden (playing MidPoint this year), Mucca Pazza, Jason Isbell (also playing MidPoint), Jimmy Eat World, The High Strung, Man Man, Danielson, Camera Obscura, Baby Teeth, and VHS or Beta.
Lite Brite at MidPoint will be taking place at the Contemporary Arts Center, and feature performances from the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, The Do, The Baltic Sea, The Seedy Seeds, johnnytwentythree, You, You’re Awesome, Loyal Divide, Ric Hordinski, The Subjects, Chemic, The Moon and the Stars and Geographer.
Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks on Lite Brite at MidPoint 2009.
